Hello.  My name is Bob Thornton and I am honored to Pastor Restart4us Church in Evergreen, Montana.  You can stick with this page for Background and Church Focus stuff – or –

Background

This is where I am to supposed to impress you by listing my educational qualifications.  And although I have degrees from three Universities, I’m quite certain formal education is perhaps the poorest measure of suitability to Pastor.  Jesus said we are to judge a tree by its fruit:

Key Bible Verse

So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit.  A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit.  Every tree that dos not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. So then, you will know them by their fruits…

The Fruit at Restart

The Word of God is absolute. There is only one interpretation of Scripture – the one God intended. There are however, countless applications. The Scripture by Scripture is interpreted; you won’t find me giving you a bunch of opinions or teaching from the headlines in an attempt at relevance. The Bible is completely relevant and at Restart we validate each passage by reference to other passages.  Each message you hear will be taken directly out of The Book and each person can follow along for themselves to gain insights and understanding to better their living.

The purpose for Restart Church is positively simple: to use the God-given giftedness of each person to meet the needs of people in our Community.  The church does not exist to minister to itself; to be exclusive and self-serving. Those are the characteristics of a Country Club.  That is a bunch of hooey and not how Restart rolls. We all have gifts that differ.  I do not have your gifts, nor you mine. There are needs that are shaped to match your gifts, there are needs shaped to match mine. We meet at Restart Church to find ways to collectively harness our gifts and be intentional about addressing the needs of those outside the walls of our little church.  And just another quick note. We don’t do church membership at Restart; we don’t count ministry by counting bodies like so many scalps.  All the people belong to the Lord; it’s immoral to begin thinking they belong to a church.  Each week I pray for only one person, one life, to be encouraged for the better.

Finally our name, Restart4us, emphasizes the regenerating nature of a growing relationship with Jesus. We all got stuff. No one is any better than anyone else. We all need to revamp, to recondition, to review and reignite our understanding of ourselves. To do frequent Bible-guided self-assessments of ourselves, to do the “spiritual work” to renew our commitment to the Jesus Path and to remember that we are daily engaged in spiritual warfare.  We all need a Restart to give meaning, significance and purpose to our living.

Choosing a church to attend or to tune into is a matter of testing the fruit.  Thank you for taking a moment to visit my personal page on the Restart4us website.  May the Lord bless and keep you, may the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you. May the Lord lift up His Countenance upon you, and give you peace.
