Battleground: Anxiety

Battleground: Anxiety

The Targets of Demonic Attack

In our study of  Spiritual Warfare we have discovered the devil and his gang will attack Believers along three principle avenues: Lust of the Flesh, Lust of the Eyes and the Boastful Pride of Life.  (Please punch this link to review that lesson … )  Once evil engages the Believer via one of these pathways, the target of attack are the Fruit of the Spirit identified in Galatians 5:22-23.  Why is that?  Because the Fruit of the Spirit is evidence of the Presence and Persuasion of the Holy Spirit in the life of the Believer.  Attack the Fruit, and neutralize and discredit the identification with Christ on the Jesus Path.  Demons assault our abilities to bear the Fruit.

So far we zeroed in on the Fruit of Love and the Fruit of Joy.  We examined the “photo-negatives” of each looking for traces of unproductive behaviors and intentions – the very evidence marking the presence and activities of the devil and his crowd.  Jesus called these “tares” – and they get sown in with the good seed.  At Restart we emphasize the importance of self-assessment. With this in view, today we look for tares in the area of the Holy Fruit of Peace.  What “negative fruit” do we bear (or what tares can we find) indicating our vulnerability in the Peace of the Lord. Specifically, what evidence of Anxiety will we find – for anxieties are the tares sown in by the demons to strangle our our Peace.

Key Bible Verse

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law…
Galatians 5:22-23

Take Aways

Merely looking for tares is only the beginning of course. Once we note evidence of demonic attack against our Peace – we must climb up to Bible Ground to present ourselves to the Lord and begin the counter-attack!  Our battle plan then was to comb the Word of God (1)  for lessons about Peace and then next (2) to find antidotes for the tares of anxiety.

As for lessons about Peace, I studied to find Bible Ground in how we lose our peace, what role we play in maintaining it, how we grow it, how not to be fooled by counterfeits and a good, hard look at real purpose of Peace.  Here are six (6) characteristics gleaned from Scripture – which are no means exhaustive – but represent conditions that need to be in place for Peace to thrive…

  • Walking in His approval
  • Depart from evil, do good, pursue peace
  • Love the Bible
  • Be intentional about God, learn trust
  • Worldly peace is not Godly peace
  • Peace guards hearts and minds

The second phase of our battle plan, was to pray and study the Bible for spiritual antidotes to the anxieties we find in our lives – to counterattack those places where demonic tares of anxiety are robbing us of our peace.   We presented six (6) of these as well…

  • Ask God to weigh your anxiety
  • Be in position to listen to God
  • Pick up the courage awaiting you
  • Believe God keeps His Word
  • Talk to God
  • Know you are loved by God

It remains our focus, our Battle Plan at Restart Church to first educate and then encourage personal self-assessment to look for evidence of the tares  Where you find the tares of anxiety you will find  demons at work – seeking to maim and wound you.  It’s time we all rolled up our sleeves and took the battlefield of Anxiety seriously.  Check out out the video to see how I expand these points.  Lord bless and keep you as you understand the places the enemy seeks to destabilize and mock your way along the Jesus Path.

There is every reason for you to study this Series as if your life depended on it.
