What is the Christmas Story About?
There is a growing segment of society who see the Christmas story as more of a commercial observance then a celebration of the Baby Jesus. This would be bad enough, but the story of His birth is only the beginning… the real Christmas story has to do with His helping people like you and me grow out of ourselves.
Key Bible Verse
I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly…
The Jewish Nation anticipated the Coming of the “Anointed One” – the Messiah (Greek: Christ). And yet unaccountably those who studied God’s Word ignored those clear passages declaring that the Promised King would “be cut off” (DANIEL 9:26) and that Messiah would suffer and be rejected (ACTS 4:11) – and as vividly and clearly detailed in PSALM 22 and ISAIAH 53. Messiah would be sacrificially offered and take upon Himself the errors and indulgences of an unbelieving world. This then is the message of the Baby born in Bethlehem. So the conspicuous consumption of the season not only robs the world of the Advent of the Baby Jesus – but distracts from the key point: Christ came to die for sinners; for people like you and me,
Key Bible Verse
For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly…
Why all this talk of death at the time of His birth? Because it is by the worthiness of Jesus in His birth, life, death and resurrection that a Sovereign and perfect God is able to view all Christ’s disciples as worthy. All the fornications, the blasphemes against The Name – all of our worthless, self indulgent thoughts and actions were piled up on Him; the Son of God who was born in Bethlehem gave His life for You – personally. What do you think is going to happen when you die? – nothingness? Bible Ground says something very different. We will all stand before God and hear something like:
- “Why should I let you into My heaven?”
And you will stand there disrobed by your shame and lack of courage. What meager offerings from those slim philanthropic pickings will you try to muster in the face of The Most High? What will you say to justify yourself?
The Jesus Path is to proclaim that Christ is the only answer to get you out of being you – but you must meet Him at the Cross – at the place of death and cleansing. It is where He made His fondest expression of His deep and commitment love for you.
- Come to the Cross
- Come to the Cross – to begin your sorrowful life anew
- Come to the Cross – to renew your vow of loyalty and fidelity to Him
- Come to the Cross – to better see the Manger of the Baby Jesus
There is every reason for you to study this as if your life depended on it.
